Extra support

Interventions

To help every student achieve their best, Rockwood offers targeted exam intervention sessions tailored to the exam schedule. These sessions provide focused support, guided revision, and personalised strategies to build confidence ahead of upcoming assessments.

What Rockwood runs

Across the year, Year 11 students are offered a programme of subject intervention sessions that runs alongside normal timetabled lessons. The exact subjects and days change from week to week depending on what is coming up in the exam calendar, so the current timetable is shared directly with students and parents closer to the time rather than fixed months in advance.

Afterschool sessions

Subject specific afterschool sessions run regularly in the run up to exams, covering core subjects (English, Maths, Science) as well as option subjects such as Business, Geography, History, Religious Education and Digital IT. Some sessions are open to all students in the relevant group, others are invite only for students identified as needing extra support in that subject.

Weekend and holiday support

During key periods in the run up to exams, Rockwood also runs weekend sessions and half term intervention blocks, combining internal sessions led by subject specialists with external provider sessions focused on English and Maths. These sit alongside a structured "Impress the Examiner" style programme on Sundays for Maths and Science in the final weeks before exams, plus an exam contingency day held close to the end of the exam season.

For the current week's exact timetable, rooms and named staff, speak to your subject teacher or your Head of Year: specific dates change throughout the year, so they are not listed here.
